“Rodents invade an estimated 21 million homes in the United States every winter,” says Missy Henriksen, an NPMA spokesperson. “But with many places already experiencing cold weather conditions, it is important to be proactive and vigilant in preventing these pests from becoming unwelcome houseguests.”

If your pets exhibit any signs of having fleas this season, immediate flea removal and extermination is of the utmost importance in order to prevent you and your pets from harm.

Mosquitoes are the deadliest insects on the planet, not because of the mosquito itself, but because of the diseases that they carry and transfer to their hosts while feeding on the host’s blood. Mosquito-born disease is responsible for the death of millions of people each year; an estimated 70 million are infected through mosquito bites annually. Diseases they carry include malaria, yellow fever, dengue, encephalitis, and West Nile virus.
First, whenever possible exclude boxelder bugs from entering the house by repairing screens and caulking cracks around windows and doors. Bugs that do get in will take up winter residence in wall voids and the attic. They will not cause any structural damage but will become a nuisance throughout the winter. If you are unable to seal exterior cracks you may need to treat wall voids and the attic with insecticidal dust or aerosol.
Use non-chemical control methods to help reduce pest problems. Around the home, such measures include removing sources of food and water (such as leaky pipes) and destroying pest shelters and breeding sites (such as litter and plant debris).
